4 Effective Ways to Prevent HIV/ AIDS

Therefore, we have to put more emphasis on HIV/AIDS prevention rather than treatment. Prevention of HIV/ AIDS is the best way to deal with the spread of HIV infection. Below are some effective ways to prevent HIV and AIDS:

  1. Avoid Contact with Infected Blood
    The most common way to transmit HIV is through contact with blood from people infected with HIV. Transfusions, or contact with open wounds, can cause the virus to spread from one person to another. Transmission by blood can easily be avoided through a blood test and avoid contact with open wounds if a person positive infected with HIV, if you have to dress a wound, make sure to wear protective clothes like latex gloves.
  2. Be Careful with Syringe and Surgical equipment
    intravenous drugs, syringes and tattoo equipment can be a source of HIV infection. Needles, tattoo guns, and razor blades come into contact with the blood of an infected person. Here are some things that you have to note when using needles and surgical equipment:

    • Do not reuse Disposable Syringes.
    • Clean and wash surgical equipment before using it.
    • If you want to tattoo, make sure it done by a clean and sanitary tattoo shop.
    • Avoid the use of illegal drugs and controlled substances intravenously.
  3. Use Condoms
    Another way of HIV transmission is through unprotected sexual contacts. A condom is your first line of defense to avoid getting infected with HIV. It is very important to use condoms when you have sex, its not only will minimize the possibility of being infected with HIV, but also can protect yourself from other sexually transmitted infections. Latex condoms are the best, but you can also use polyurethane condoms. Do not reuse it and make sure that there are no broken on the barriers when using one.
  4. Avoid Free Sex
    HIV and AIDS is more prevalent for people with multiple sexual partners. If you have only one sexual partner, you can dramatically minimize the chances of contracting HIV or getting AIDS. However it does not mean that you can stop using condoms, you still have to engage in protected sex even if you are faithful to your sexual partner.

You definitely do not want to become the next statistic in a growing of people infected with HIV/ AIDS. With the above tips, you can greatly avoid this worst transmitted diseases while enjoying a full and healthy life.
