Signs and Symptoms of Anemia

However when the anemia symptoms appear, they may include:

  • Fatigue
  • Tired or weakness
  • Headaches
  • Shortness of breath
  • Cold in hands and feet
  • Pale
  • Palpitations (irregular heartbeat)

If the anemia is severe, the symptoms may include:

The signs appear because your heart must work harder to pump oxygen-rich blood throughout your body.

If the anemia is caused by excessive RBCs destruction, symptoms may also include jaundice (yellowing of the eyes or skin), enlarged spleen and tea-colored urine.
